Continue to use blue and green

I'd painted half of this trail painting before I went back to Japan. And I finished today.

After finishing 4 sunset paintings , I think I go back "blue and green" again.
But I tried to add more warm colours too. I hope it works out.

Mt Garibaldi

When you paint landscape around Squamish, you can't miss this mountain.

I've already painted Mt Garibaldi several times. But this is the first time I put it in the middle of my canvas and large. I wasn't expected so large but ended up quite large sitting in the middle.

I was standing at one of the viewpoints up on gondola, called Diamond Head viewpoint.
But unfortunately Diamond Head is just behind the tree.

The fourth sunset painting in this year.

Obsessed by sunset? Maybe....
The beautiful colours of sunset have just stick in my brain and never go away.

But this painting " Gradation" is more symbolic than ordinary sunset scene.

The third sunset paintings up gondola

This is the same angle of the first sunset painting but a little earlier time gone up the gondola in Squamish.

The colour of the sky changes every minute, so never getting tired of looking up the sky.

The second sunset painting from up gondola

After Bob and I had dinner, I was quite sure we could see great sunset scene in that evening.

That was a very clear day at the beginning and enough THIN clouds gathering up in the afternoon. If there is no cloud, we can only see huge sky with simple colour. And if there are too much thick clouds, we can't see any nice sunset, either.

That day was just perfect! Then great sky show started and lasted for 4 hours. Yes, we both got quite tired of being patient and only looking up the sky for 4 hours. But worth it!!!

Another "grapes" painting

Getting ready for my new show at Adventure Center.

I was thinking to put up 4 paintings that I've already painted before. Those are all related to grapes from our holidays in Okanagan last summer.

But I decided to add one more little painting with them. And I've just finished it today.
Now everything is ready to hang in next week at Adventure Center.

A painting from photo

I was so impressed as soon as I saw the photo taken one of my friends last winter. She put it out in facebook. And I was looking at it everyday.

Then I really wanted to paint that scene even I've never actually seen it. So I asked her about using her photo on my canvas. She said YES.

But nature always wins. It was so difficult to express the light. But I tried my best.

"Reflection" is SOLD!

One of my friends came to my door and told me she'd checked the painting several times in the Foyer Gallery and she decided to buy it. Great!

But at this moment, the painting is in Whistler. Our Visuals show " True Blue Water" is invited by Whistler Art Council and they put our show at Millennium Place Gallery in Whistler. Another great opportunity to expose our arts.

The best in the show award!!

After staying Japan for long 5 months, this is the first show I can participate in Visuals.
At Foyer Gallery from July 29 to September 2, 2014. The theme is " True Blue Water"

But how lucky I am!! I've got the best in the show award for the first time in Visuals show tie along Maureen Brown. Thanks to all my friends for helping me out.

Now it's the time to start a new painting.

So BLUE!

Again, I painted so "BLUE" painting.  But this time, I intended to.

My painting never starts or finishes without blue and green. Of course I put lots of other colours on my canvas too. But all of the images turn out SO BLUE or GREEN. I can't see much of other colours. WHY?????

I'd actually seen this beautiful BLUE scene at Okanagan Lake last summer. The reflection from the strong summer sun was just fantastic image to paint. Yes, but very difficult for me to paint too. But I tried.

Landscape again.

After painting a couple of "still life" and using vivid colours on my canvas, I was ready to go back painting landscape again.

This is Kayoosh Creek beside HW 99. We stopped and enjoyed quiet and beautiful atmosphere on the way to Okanagan trip last summer.

I think I finished painting this "Quiet Place" but don't feel like it's done. Still feeling like something missing or is not right. But can't think of "something" yet.

So I decided I'll let it be and concentrate another one that I've already started at the same time and want to finish it before I go back to Japan this March.
