Squamish Sunset

Sunset scene is always so attractive to me.

During I lived in Japan, I love to see sunset scene but couldn't watch it with deep impression like I do now. Almost every day, I look out the window and expecting nice sunset colour in the sky. When I see a beautiful sunset scene, that makes me so happy!

Trees again.

After 2 months distraction because of being in Japan, I thought of one of the canvases, 20"X16", which I painted over light green to cover up the painting that I didn't like and couldn't finish.

I started painting many trees like I'd done before I went to Japan but a little different touch.
I even put a couple of birds on the tree that should go with the theme Wild Life for next Artisan window show. But I don't know this painting is good enough for the show.

I saved another "couldn't finish canvas"anyway.

First negative painting

I've been interested in negative painting. But I didn't know exactly how it works.

So I looked into website and found free lesson for negative painting.
But only painted by water color. I could try oil paint too. Then I DID!

Not only blue and green

I've been trying to paint landscape using not only blue and green like I always use.

Then finished "purplish" landscape today. I think this is not good enough but something a little different, anyway.

Huge rock

I saw this huge rock one of the trail when I was up by gondola.

I was avoiding to paint rock before because it looks so difficult for me to paint but I decided to paint this time.

I would like to paint hard and solid rock but looks like SOFT rock. Still very hard to paint the rock for me.

Continue to use blue and green

I'd painted half of this trail painting before I went back to Japan. And I finished today.

After finishing 4 sunset paintings , I think I go back "blue and green" again.
But I tried to add more warm colours too. I hope it works out.

Mt Garibaldi

When you paint landscape around Squamish, you can't miss this mountain.

I've already painted Mt Garibaldi several times. But this is the first time I put it in the middle of my canvas and large. I wasn't expected so large but ended up quite large sitting in the middle.

I was standing at one of the viewpoints up on gondola, called Diamond Head viewpoint.
But unfortunately Diamond Head is just behind the tree.
